Frequently Asked Questions
About Coaching & Who I Work With
Do I need a diagnosis to work with you?
No. Diagnosed, self‑identified, on a waitlist — you’re welcome here.
Do you work with people who have both ADHD and Autism?
Yes — AuDHD is my speciality.
Do you coach people who suspect they’re AuDHD but aren’t sure?
Absolutely. Curiosity is enough.
Do you work with people who have co‑occurring conditions (anxiety, depression, OCD, trauma)?
Yes — many AuDHD clients do. Coaching supports your functioning alongside therapy.
Do you work with under-18's?
This is not something I offer currently as standard, but will be in 2027. I am a PVG Member with Disclosure Scotland however so if you would like me to work with your young person, I am happy to discuss this.
Is coaching helpful if I’m burnt out or overwhelmed?
Yes — coaching is designed to support you through burnout, shutdown, and overwhelm gently and practically.
Is this coaching trauma‑aware?
Yes. Sessions are paced gently and designed to avoid overwhelm or re‑triggering.
Do you help with work, relationships, or daily life?
Yes — coaching covers all areas where your AuDHD patterns show up.
Assessments, Diagnosis & Medication
Can you assess or diagnose ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD?
No — coaching is not a clinical service, so I can’t assess or diagnose. If you’re exploring whether you might be ADHD, Autistic, or AuDHD, I can help you understand your patterns and support you while you pursue an assessment through the NHS or a private clinician.
Can you help with medication or prescribe anything?
No — only medical professionals can prescribe or manage medication. I can support you in understanding your experiences around medication (e.g., routines, side‑effects conversations, remembering doses), but I cannot advise on what you should take or how you should take it.
Can you tell me whether I “have” ADHD or Autism?
No — that requires a qualified clinician. What I can do is help you explore your traits, patterns, and lived experiences so you feel more confident and informed when speaking to professionals.
Can you help me prepare for an ADHD or Autism assessment?
Yes — I can help you understand what assessments typically involve, organise your thoughts, and feel more confident explaining your experiences.
Can you support me while I’m waiting for an assessment or medication review?
Absolutely. Many clients come to coaching during long NHS wait times. We focus on practical support, emotional regulation, burnout prevention, and understanding your patterns while you wait.
Coaching vs Therapy & Coaching Style
What’s the difference between coaching and therapy?
Therapy supports healing; coaching supports day‑to‑day functioning, patterns, and practical change. Many people benefit from both.
What’s the difference between traditional coaching and ADHD/AuDHD coaching?
Traditional coaching assumes consistent motivation, stable executive function, and neurotypical patterns. ADHD/AuDHD coaching understands monotropism, burnout cycles, emotional intensity, sensory needs, and executive‑function challenges — and adapts everything to your neurotype.
Will you give me between‑session work?
Only if you want it. No pressure, no overwhelm. Everything is optional and tailored to your capacity.
Do you offer support between sessions?
Yes — some clients benefit from light check‑ins or accountability. We can discuss what works for you.
How Sessions Work
What is a Discovery Call?
A Discovery Call is a short, friendly conversation where we explore what you’re looking for and whether coaching feels like the right kind of support for you. It’s not an assessment, and there’s no pressure to commit to anything. It’s simply a chance to talk through your needs, ask questions, and get a feel for how we might work together. Many people use it to understand what coaching involves, what sessions look like, and which package might suit them best. You can take your time afterwards and decide at your own pace.
What happens in a session?
You bring whatever’s on your mind. If you’re unsure where to start, I guide you using the ADHD Works frameworks. We explore your patterns and create practical supports you can use immediately.
What if I don’t know what I need or where to start?
That is completely normal for our brains. We often know we need to do something but don't know what. I'll guide gently until we find a starting point that makes sense for you.
How long are sessions?
Sessions are typically one hour. If you prefer shorter or longer sessions you can contact me to discuss options.
How often are sessions?
Most clients choose weekly or fortnightly sessions, but we tailor it to your needs and capacity.
Can partners or parents join sessions?
Yes — if it supports your goals, or makes you feel more comfortable. We can discuss what feels right for you. I also offer coaching to parents/partners/loved one's to them navigate your world. If you are a parent to an under 18, it has been found to be equally beneficial for you to receive coaching to help understand your young person more, over them receiving the training that they might not be ready for, or want!
Accessibility & Neurodivergent Needs
Do I need to download Microsoft Teams?
No. You can join straight from your browser with one click.
Do I have to sit still for an hour?
Absolutely not. Stimming, pacing, fidgeting, stretching, walking about — all welcome.
Can I keep my camera off?
Yes. If it helps you regulate, focus, or feel safer, camera‑off sessions are completely fine. And if there is a day when talking is too hard, we can have a more relaxed session using the text function
What if I talk too much or go off on tangents?
That’s part of ADHD communication. I guide gently and help you stay on track without shutting you down.
What if I can’t explain what’s wrong?
Totally normal. You don’t need clear words — we figure it out together.
Can I message you if I’m anxious before a session?
Of course you can — you can reach out if you need reassurance or clarity.
Timing, Lateness & Rescheduling
What happens if I’m late to a session?
Life happens. ADHD happens. Autism happens. You can still join — we’ll use whatever time we have without judgement, but I can’t extend the session to make up the missed time.
What if I forget my session or mix up the time?
It's okay, nobody gets in trouble here! I send reminders to help you, and we simply reschedule without shame. I offer one free reschedule for missed appointments per 6‑week block, and two per 12‑week block.
Can I cancel or reschedule sessions?
Yes, absolutely. I have a clear, kind cancellation policy on the website but in a nutshell, this is free with a minimum of 48 hours-notice. I offer one free cancelation/reschedule per 6‑week block, and two per 12‑week block for cancelation/reschedules that are 24-hours' notice.
Practicalities & Packages
Is everything confidential?
Yes. Your sessions are a private, safe space.
Do you offer one‑off sessions or only packages?
You can choose what fits your needs and budget.
Can I choose session length or frequency?
Yes — everything is flexible and tailored to your capacity.
Do you offer support for people supporting someone who is AuDHD?
Yes — partners, parents, and loved ones are welcome to work with me too. If you are a parent to an under 18, it has been found to be equally beneficial for you to receive coaching to help understand your young person more, over them receiving the training that they might not be ready for, or want!
Access to Work
Can coaching be funded through Access to Work?
Yes — many clients in the UK use Access to Work to fund their coaching. Coaching is considered a workplace support that helps you manage executive function, communication, overwhelm, and energy so you can thrive at work.
What is Access to Work and how does it work?
Access to Work is a government scheme that can help fund workplace support if you’re disabled or neurodivergent, including ADHD and Autism. You don’t need a formal diagnosis to apply, but you do need to disclose your needs to your employer so they understand why you’re requesting support. Access to Work applications can take a long time to be processed — typically several months — and this delay is entirely down to the government’s assessment timelines, not anything on your side or mine. Once you’ve submitted your request, you simply have to wait for their team to review it and get back to you. The official government link is below
If you’d like guidance - ADHD Works offers a free course that walks you step‑by‑step through the application process and helps you understand what to expect. I’m not affiliated with ADHD Works and I don’t receive anything if you choose to use their course — I recommend it simply because it’s clear, accessible, and genuinely helpful for many people navigating Access to Work for the first time.
Extra FAQs that often help clients
What if I feel embarrassed or ashamed talking about my struggles?
You’re not alone — and there’s no judgement here, I promise. Shame is a common AuDHD experience, and we work through it gently. And if you need additional help from another professional, I will help signpost you to what might help you further alongside coaching, e.g therapy.
What if I mask in sessions?
Totally normal. We go at your pace, and you never have to “perform” for me.
What if I’m in shutdown and can barely speak?
You can still attend. We adapt the session to your energy — even if that means going slowly, using the chat, or taking breaks.
Can we work on multiple areas at once?
Yes — AuDHD brains are interconnected. We follow your patterns, not a rigid structure.
